Our Manifesto

Knowledge, labour, time… When we combine them with organization and solidarity, a new order will emerge. We believe that, if we are the producers, we should be making the decisions and sharing the profit.

For most of us, working life means spending our years on a path with no certain goal. We consider ourselves lucky when we get an opportunity to work at a decent place under acceptable conditions. The 2-3 weeks of paid leave we are given each year, in return for a 45 hour weekly routine, become the broadest space of freedom we can get.

We usually talk and complain about certain aspects of our working lives like unemployment, interviews, insufficient wages/raises, performance assessments, precarious conditions, the feeling of being inadequate for the job, pressure of being dismissed, retirement in graves and so on. However we do not or cannot come up with frameworks that trigger change. These feelings inevitably make us want to escape places we work at, places that deepen our alienation especially when everyone is included in a so called “us” or “family”. None of us want to be part of a corporate world that makes us feel so unhappy.

We want to create an alternative to a working life that feels inevitable under these conditions. Our goal is to establish cooperation and the working environment of the future! We want to produce not only for profit but also in line with our talents, according to our needs, collectively, and in solidarity!

All of us have different skills and specialties. While we can make progress to a certain extent individually, we think that we can be more dynamic and productive with collectives working towards shared and common goals. We believe that a grassroots network of organizations can be established through association-like structures that these collectives will form over time.

Centralized structures have only been able to function properly in a sustainable manner under unfair conditions. The concept of “decentralization”, which has been at the forefront in recent years, especially in the tech industry, has emerged from similar needs.

8 principles

Cooperation
A cooperative is an autonomous structure created by individuals voluntarily to meet the economic, social, cultural needs and expectations of members. Cooperatives are managed by collectively defined rules. The meaning of the word is collaboration.⁣
Solidarity
A coop exists so that all partners can live their lives both financially and emotionally at certain standards. In order to meet these standards, the coop creates funds (pension schemes, health insurance, reserve funds, childcare support etc) and makes investments. The coop's understanding of solidarity is not limited to partners only. It tries to create business domains where it can partner and share information with other people or institutions. In this way it promotes solidarity on a social scale and uses its resources to produce other forms of economic relations.
Collective Functioning
Taking decisions collectively on all processes required for a cooperative to function and distributing tasks and responsibilities equally and alternately among all working owners.⠀
Horizontal Hierarchy
An organizational structure where every member has equal responsibility and right to speak, contrary to top-down hierarchical organizations.
Decentralization
It is a form of organization where daily operations and decision-making responsibilities are delegated to members and working groups instead of a central structure.
Fair Revenue Sharing
Sharing the revenue generated by the cooperative's economic model, among members in a fair way taking into consideration the labour-time every individual spent.
Consensus
A creative and dynamic way of reaching an agreement between all members of a group. Instead of voting for an item and having the majority of the group getting their way, group is committed to finding solutions that everyone actively supports, or at least can live with. This ensures that all opinions, ideas and concerns are taken into account. Through listening closely to each other, the group aims to come up with proposals that work for everyone. It is not compromising or unanimity, but it's a process that concludes with surprising and creative solutions that inspire both the person and the group.⠀
Equality
Equality means everybody has an equal right to speak and that income and risks are shared fairly and equally. Equal opportunity is given to members on a safe platform where no prejudice is tolerated.

Implementing a working order in any industry within a framework of these and similar other values may seem unrealistic. We read about proposals and ideas which many of us wish would work. But there are examples all over the world that actually do work, and they are not few. The change has already begun; international networks are being established!

Knowledge, labour, time … When we combine them with organization and solidarity, a new order will emerge. We believe that, if we are the producers, we should be making the decisions and sharing the profit.

We want to free ourselves from a working order that’s currently running our lives. Implementing a new order will also open new doors to how we work in the future. Believing that we have the courage and determination to take the first steps on this path, we established a tech cooperative in line with the principles and values that we share.
